Lipedema and lymphedema are what I am known for. I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, one of only five people in Loudoun County who holds both, and most of my week goes to the fat and fluid conditions other providers were never trained to recognize.
If you have been told your swelling is just weight, or that nothing more can be done, you have most likely not been properly assessed yet. Lipedema, lymphedema, and lipo-lymphedema look alike and respond to completely different treatment. Knowing which one you have is where progress actually starts.
That same training also covers back, neck and joint pain, post-surgical recovery, balance and fall risk, and golf and athletic performance. You see me for every session, in my Leesburg clinic or wherever is easier for you.
No rotating staff. No generic protocols. I adjust your plan based on how your body responds, not on a schedule set by an insurer.
Almost everyone who finds me has already seen someone else first. If any of this sounds familiar, you are in the right place.
Painful, symmetrical fat that does not respond to diet or weight loss, often with easy bruising and tenderness. Frequently misdiagnosed as obesity.
Persistent swelling in an arm or leg that will not resolve with elevation, whether primary, hereditary, or secondary to surgery or radiation.
Fluid retention and delayed healing after orthopedic, cosmetic, or lipedema reduction surgery, including scar and fibrosis management.
Arm swelling, cording, axillary web syndrome, and shoulder restriction following breast cancer surgery or node removal.
Skin redundancy, lymphatic load, and movement retraining after bariatric surgery or significant weight loss.
Persistent musculoskeletal pain addressed with orthopedic manual therapy and dry needling, treating the cause rather than the symptom.
Objective balance testing and targeted strength work to restore confidence on your feet and reduce fall risk.
Return to sport with a plan built on clinical diagnosis, not generic rehab, so the problem does not keep coming back.
Titleist-certified screening for golfers, and performance care for professionals who need their body to keep pace.
Complete Decongestive Therapy needs a properly equipped treatment room. Most other care can come to you. We decide together which one makes sense for your treatment and your week.
This is where I treat lipedema and lymphedema. Multi-layer compression bandaging, garment fitting, limb measurement, and full Complete Decongestive Therapy all need a proper setup to be done well, session after session.
For orthopedic care, post-surgical follow-up, performance work, and golf screening, I come to your home, office, country club, or building. No commute, no waiting room.
"Your most valuable COMMODITY is your TIME.
Your most valuable ASSET is your BODY."
Women with lipedema come to me having been told to lose weight. Lymphedema patients come to me having been handed a compression sleeve and sent home. People with pain come to me after being treated where it hurts instead of where it starts.
In my experience the problem is almost never effort. It is an incomplete assessment. Lipedema, lymphedema, and lipo-lymphedema present similarly and need different care, so my first job is to work out exactly what I am looking at.
That is why I keep every session one-on-one. You get a clinical diagnosis from a Doctor of Physical Therapy who is also a Certified Lymphedema Therapist, a plan built around your body, and treatment that changes as your body changes. No protocol, and no visit cap decided by someone who has never examined you.
That's why Level Up exists.
Because I hold both DPT and CLT credentials, your lymphatic system, your joints, and your movement all get assessed by the same clinician in the same session.
I deliver medical-grade Complete Decongestive Therapy: manual lymphatic drainage, compression bandaging and garment fitting, therapeutic exercise, and skin care. I treat lipedema, lymphedema, and lipo-lymphedema at every stage.
I manage swelling, scar tissue and fibrosis, cording and axillary web syndrome, and your safe progression back to full function after breast, orthopedic, lipedema reduction, or weight loss surgery.
I treat back, neck and joint pain, balance and fall risk, and sports injuries using orthopedic manual therapy, dry needling, and functional retraining.
I run Titleist-certified 16-point screening and swing correlation for golfers, and performance care for professionals who need their body to keep up with their work.
Specialist lymphatic care, without the constraints that limit most clinics.
I am one of only five clinicians in Loudoun County who holds both. That lets me assess your joints and muscles alongside your lymphatic system, and treat swelling and rehabilitation in the same visit instead of sending you to two providers.
No rotating staff and no assistants. Every session is with me, so nothing gets lost between visits and your care keeps pace with your progress.
Full Complete Decongestive Therapy happens in my Leesburg clinic, where the equipment is. Orthopedic, post-surgical and performance care can happen at your home, office or club.
I work out of network, so there are no visit caps, no pre-approvals, and nobody overruling my clinical judgment. You get the treatment you actually need.
Lymphatic conditions progress. Every month swelling goes badly managed, the tissue changes, fibrosis sets in, and what I can achieve for you gets harder to reach. Treating this early and correctly is the least costly version of it, clinically and financially.
The same holds for pain you have learned to work around. Compensations become structural, and a manageable problem turns into a limiting one. I would rather see you before that happens.
I have practiced in Loudoun County for close to a quarter century, and I have built this practice on results rather than volume. I keep taking postgraduate training because the evidence keeps moving, and my patients deserve care that moves with it.
My lymphatic training follows the Vodder method of Manual Lymph Drainage and Complete Decongestive Therapy, which is the international clinical standard for lipedema and lymphedema management.
I also teach as Adjunct Faculty in Marymount University's Doctorate in Physical Therapy program. Teaching keeps me close to the research, and close to the questions the next generation of clinicians is asking.
If you are managing lipedema or lymphedema, recovering from surgery, working through pain you have carried for years, or simply keeping your body ready for the life you lead, I would like to help.
In health,
Dr. Grace, DPT, CLT
